No, we can’t. And our prices are most likely only going to go up.
Why? Because we see the quality of our work. Especially when we take over bookkeeping from other accounting firms.
The foundation of quality accounting is communication.💡
Let me share a story.
After taking over a client’s bookkeeping, we found that VAT had been calculated incorrectly, so additional tax had to be paid. But the biggest surprise came later.
We informed the client that almost EUR 70,000 was recorded in her advance (expense) account.⚠️ She was shocked.
It turned out that she regularly asked her accountant how much cash the company had, and the accountant, while moving the amounts to the advance account, would reply: “There’s no cash balance.”
That’s not just an accounting error. It’s a communication problem.
I asked the client how she used to sign the financial statements. The answer was simple: “I always got them at the last minute. I just signed them – there was no time to discuss everything.”
🎯 And that’s the whole point.
Accounting isn’t just entering numbers. A good accountant must not only keep the books correctly, but also explain what those numbers mean. What each line of the balance sheet means. Why a particular balance has appeared. What it means for your company specifically.
If your accountant can’t explain your company’s financial situation in simple terms, or doesn’t make time for it, it’s worth thinking seriously about whether this is really the person you want to entrust with your business’s finances.
