What documents are required for UAB liquidation?
You'll need the company's founding documents, the shareholders' resolution on liquidation, the liquidation balance sheet, clearance certificates from VMI and SODRA, and other documents depending on your situation.
What happens once UAB liquidation is complete?
After full settlement with government institutions, the company is deregistered from the Register of Legal Entities and ceases to exist.
Can you liquidate a UAB on your own, without legal or accounting support?
In theory — yes, but in practice it's challenging due to the specific legal and financial requirements. Most companies turn to specialists to avoid errors and keep the process running smoothly.
What does "appointing a liquidator" mean, and who can serve as one?
A liquidator is the person responsible for carrying out the liquidation. This can be one of the shareholders, the managing director, or an external representative — the key requirement is that they hold the authority to act on behalf of the company throughout the liquidation period.
Is a public announcement required for UAB liquidation?
Yes — the liquidation must be announced through the Centre of Registers, and in some cases through a newspaper as well, so that third parties are informed.
