GPAIS still seems like an additional administrative burden for many companies. As a reminder, ignoring it can have serious legal and financial consequences.
What does it mean to have a messy GPAIS accounting?
🔹Does not provide data on packaging or products placed on the market,
🔹Does not keep records of the waste produced,
🔹 No records of waste transfers to handlers,
🔹Not meeting reporting deadlines
If the company cannot prove that the waste has been transferred to a handler, it loses its entitlement to the benefits. In this case, the fee is not only calculated on the total quantity, but also doubled.
TRUE HISTORY
WHEN INACCURATE ACCOUNTING FOR GPAIS MAKES AN ACCOUNT DOUBLE
In another company, staff declared only the outer packaging, ignoring the inner packaging, in accordance with general instructions. The mistake was costly: instead of €150,000, the company paid almost €300,000 in environmental taxes.
It became a lesson:
GPAIS is not a formality.
Accounting is now entrusted to specialists – ELVs – and the data is verified at several levels.
⛔ GPAIS records the time of data entry. Therefore, trying to “work backwards” usually does not help!
If you manufacture or import packaging, oils, electrical and electronic equipment, batteries or vehicles, you MUST keep GPAIS records!
If you are not yet managing your GPAIS, get in touch and we will help you!
