New requirements for single-use plastic packaging!

Catering establishments

Cafes, restaurants, bars, etc. – no free distribution:

  • Disposable plastic food containers;
  • Disposable plastic drinks containers (including their caps and lids).

*This ban applies to all establishments except those operating during mass events or on beaches.

What do all caterers need to ensure?

  1. The price of single-use plastic packaging must be clearly separated from the price of the product. It must not be included “automatically”.
  2. Plastic packaging must be properly declared in GPAIS in accordance with the legal requirements.
  3. If food or drink is served on site using single-use plastic packaging, at least one of the following alternatives must be offered:

– reusable packaging,

– single-use plastic-free packaging,

– normal tableware.

*This does not apply to takeaway food or drinks.

Beaches and mass events

The free distribution or sale of plastic food and drink containers is prohibited in such places, unless a deposit is required.

  • The deposit is set on a site-by-site basis;
  • It must be clearly separated from the price of the product;
  • The deposit is only recovered by the buyer after returning the packaging to the same establishment.
