Frequently asked questions

Intrastat - what is it?
Intrastat is a statistical report on the movement of goods between EU countries.
When is a company required to report Intrastat?
A company is required to report to Intrastat when its turnover of goods entering or leaving the EU reaches the annual thresholds set.
Do I need to submit an Intrastat report if there have been no transactions with the EU during the month?
No, if there were no transactions with the EU during the month, you don't need to report Intrastat.
What are the thresholds for Intrastat reporting (outward/import)?
Intrastat reporting is required when the annual value of outgoing goods exceeds €400,000 and the value of incoming goods exceeds €570,000.
How does Intrastat reporting work?
Intrastat reporting is carried out by collecting monthly data on all goods entering and leaving the EU (codes, weights, values, countries). Intrastat data must be submitted to Customs by the 10th of each month, declaring the previous month's movements.
How do I fill in the Intrastat report in the software (which fields should I fill in)?
The Intrastat report requires the goods code, country, transaction type, value, weight, quantity and mode of transport.
Do I need to declare goods that are being returned?
Returned goods are considered to be a movement of goods between EU countries and are therefore included in Intrastat statistics in the same way as purchases or sales.
Can I outsource Intrastat reporting to an accounting firm?
Yes. "ELV Projects can fully manage your Intrastat accounting and reporting on your behalf to ensure everything is done accurately and on time.
