EPR - Extended producer responsibility is Lithuania's Unified Products, Packaging, and Waste Accounting Information System — used by companies to declare data on packaging, products, and waste to the national authorities.
Who is required to register in the EPR system?
Any business that imports, manufactures, or uses packaging, products, or generates waste — and is therefore required to report on them — must register in EPR.
Why is EPR reporting required?
EPR reporting allows the state to monitor how packaging and waste are managed, and to ensure companies meet their environmental obligations under the law.
Why is EPR - Extended producer responsibility important?
EPR accounting ensures that packaging, product, and waste volumes are recorded accurately, correctly declared, and fully traceable.
What fines apply for incorrect EPR reporting?
If EPR reporting isn't carried out properly, fines can range from a few hundred to several thousand euros, depending on the scope and frequency of the violation.
Why is a EPR report needed?
A EPR report allows your company to correctly declare packaging, product, and waste volumes, and to demonstrate compliance with environmental requirements.
How can a company outsource EPR reporting to another company (e.g. an accounting firm)?
You can outsource EPR reporting by granting authorisation in the EPR system and signing a services agreement.
Is packaging reporting mandatory for all companies?
Packaging reporting is only required for companies that place packaged goods on the market or import packaged products.
Who must submit EPR reports?
Companies that manufacture, import, or first supply packaging, products, or equipment in Lithuania — including electrical goods and vehicles.
What do I do if I missed the EPR reporting deadline?
You should submit the overdue report as quickly as possible and include the reason for the delay.
