How long does it take to wind up an association?
The winding-up process takes an average of 3-6 months, depending on the volume of the association's activities, debts and paperwork.
Do I need to appoint a liquidator?
Yes, a liquidator must be appointed when the association is wound up - this can be the manager or another person approved by the meeting of the persons.
What documents are needed to start the winding-up of an association?
You need to draw up a winding-up decision, appoint a liquidator, draw up a winding-up balance sheet and submit the documents to the Registry Centre.
Do I need to inform other institutions besides the Centre of Registers about the dissolution of the association?
Yes, the State Tax Inspectorate (STI), SODRA and other partners or institutions as appropriate must be informed.
Can an association be dissolved if it has debts?
No, all creditors must be paid first. If debts arise during the liquidation, the process is stopped or the bankruptcy procedure is triggered.
