What documents do I need to employ a foreigner (employment contract, residence permit, visa)?
To employ a foreigner, you need an employment contract, a residence or work permit, a visa and any other additional documents that the migration authorities may require.
Does the company need to obtain a permit to employ a foreigner?
Yes, in most cases the company must obtain a permit to employ the foreigner or submit the necessary documents to the Migration Department.
Do businesses have to pay extra taxes to employ foreigners?
No, businesses don't have to pay extra taxes just to employ a foreigner, but they are subject to the same labour and tax requirements as Lithuanian workers.
How is the employment contract with a foreigner processed (e.g. term, conditions)?
An employment contract with a foreigner is concluded under the same conditions as with a Lithuanian worker, but only after the foreigner has obtained a work or residence permit for Lithuania.
Can you help with the recruitment process for foreigners?

Which countries can recruit nationals under this scheme?
The simplified procedure applies to third-country nationals (e.g. from Ukraine, Moldova, Uzbekistan, etc.) if they have a residence permit in Lithuania and meet the requirements of the Employment Service.
How long does the recruitment process take?
The usual time between submitting the paperwork and starting the placement is a few days to a few weeks, depending on the situation and the preparation of the paperwork.
Can a foreigner start working before getting all the permits?
No - you can only work if you have a valid residence or work permit and have notified the Employment Service and Sodra.
