Frequently asked questions

Do I need a notary to set up an MB/IE?
No, if all documents are submitted through the self-service system of the Centre of Registers with electronic signatures. A notary is only needed in exceptional cases.
Does the founder of an MB/IE need a registered office address?
Yes, the address of the registered office and the owner's consent are required when setting up an MB/IE if it is not an asset of your own.
When can I start working after setting up an MB/IE?
Immediately after registration in the Register of Legal Persons. A VAT code or other authorisations are only required in certain cases, depending on the nature of the activity.
Do I need a notary when setting up an MB/IE
Nevisada. Electronic incorporation does not require a notary. However, if the incorporation documents are not signed with an electronic signature, a notary is required.
Can a foreigner set up an MB/IE?
Yes, EU nationals can set up a company in Lithuania without restrictions. Non-EU nationals can too, but sometimes additional documents are required (residence permit, authorised representative).
