From 2026. 1 January<\/strong> New obligation for car importers putting cars on the Lithuanian market<\/strong><\/p>\n\n

As of 1 January 2026, the requirement for car importers (business entities) to register with an organisation that manages vehicle waste management comes into force in Lithuania.<\/p>\n\n

What does this mean?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n

Car importers will have:<\/p>\n\n

\u2714\ufe0f Register with a licensed organisation AGIA or<\/strong> GIA<\/p>\n\n

\u2714\ufe0f Or contract an organisation to collect and manage end-of-life vehicles (ELVs)<\/p>\n\n

\u2714\ufe0f Contribute financially to the vehicle waste management system<\/p>\n\n

The requirement applies to legal persons who import cars for business purposes.<\/p>\n\n

Private individuals bringing a car for their own use are exempt from this obligation.<\/p>\n\n

If you are involved in car importing, it is worth preparing in advance and checking whether your business will comply with the new requirements.<\/p>\n
